3 Ways to Market Your Business on a Slim Budget

1. Try partnering with other businesses that complement yours.

If you want to market and scale your business without a lot of money to invest in advertising, consider partnering with another brand. Partnering with an established company has the potential to provide priceless benefits. For example, customers are more likely to trust your product if it is associated with a reputable business. The size of your partner’s audience can help you attract new customers. When choosing a partner, it’s essential to make sure they will work well with your brand. You need to do some targeted research and find out what other companies’ followers like about them before deciding who would be the best fit for you and your business.

You can also think of your marketing agency as a partner in the same way. We have a vested interest in your success. Our team develops marketing strategies that work best with your brand’s message. We personalize marketing plans to include your business, its long-term goals, and the type of customers you want to reach.

2. Use a broad social media marketing strategy for the best results.

A multi-channel social media marketing strategy will help you reach more people and gain valuable insight into your ideal customer. Try each of the major platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube) to determine which one works best for you. Many of our clients tell us, “I don’t use Facebook” or “I don’t use LinkedIn”. It is not what social media platform you use. It is the social media platform your ideal customer will use.

Social Media Demographics

Here is a breakdown of the demographics of each social media platform:
Facebook – 2.91 billion users, largest group 25-34 years, 43% female, 57% male.
Instagram – 2 billion users, largest groups 18-24 and 25-34 years, 48.4% female, 51.8% male.
LinkedIn – 810 million users, largest group 25-34 years, 48 % female, 52% male.
Twitter – 211 million users, largest group 18-29 years, 38.4% female, 61.6% male.
YouTube – 2+billion users, largest group 15-35 years, 46% female, 54% male.

As you can see, each platform features different demographics. But as I tell my clients, you cannot make assumptions based on limited data. For example, although the data above indicated that LinkedIn’s largest group is 25-34 years, that is primarily due to the use of the platform for connections to foster employment. The other assumption is that LinkedIn is primarily for B2B sales. Yes, LinkedIn is utilized for B2B connections. However, remember, business owners need personal products and services, buy gifts, and can refer your business to their family and friends.

You can also target multiple markets by running digital advertising across a combination of social media platforms. For example, if you are creating a video for your social media campaigns (Facebook/Instagram), post your videos to your own YouTube channel.  You can then advertise through YouTube (which is owned by Google), and this will increase your search engine rankings.

3. Utilize E-Mail Campaigns to connect with your customers

E-mail is still one of the most effective ways to market your business. You can use e-mail to send newsletters, promotions, or other content to customers, and you can reach out to new people by asking them to sign up for a mailing list when they visit your store. E-mail marketing also helps you reach potential customers through viral sharing, as recipients are more likely to share e-mails with others than social media posts.

You’ll have a much better chance of converting readers into buyers if you use e-mail marketing correctly. Be sure that your e-mails contain strong calls-to-action (CTAs) and focus on an actionable benefit rather than just a list of facts about your products or services. For example, instead of saying, “New fiction books,” try: “Get free shipping on our selection of new fiction books.” That way, it’s clear that shopping for those particular books will save them money on shipping costs. Just be sure that you follow the spam laws that apply to e-mail marketing so you don’t run afoul of regulations in Canada and elsewhere.

The Most Effective Marketing Strategies

The most effective marketing strategies include: creating quality content (such as blog posts), and engaging with influencers who know what they’re talking about when it comes to topics related specifically to small businesses/entrepreneurship – social media platforms like Instagram or Facebook have become popular places where people share ideas around startups; online forums such as Reddit have also been created specifically for entrepreneurs so that they can communicate in real-time with each other about issues facing today’s world of entrepreneurship.
